AWS migration & modernization

AWS migration services, from assessment to operation.

Move applications, databases and infrastructure to AWS with a plan for performance, security and continuity. CloudHero assesses your current environment, builds the AWS foundation and delivers the agreed migration with your team.

Before choosing a migration path

Start with the workload and the business case.

A migration can start with an application on another cloud, virtual machines in a data center or a platform that has become difficult to scale and operate. We review the dependencies, data, availability requirements, licensing constraints and current costs before recommending an approach.

The target may use Amazon EC2, containers, Amazon EKS or managed AWS services. We help you decide what to move first, what to modernize and what should remain in its current environment. Kubernetes is an option when it fits the workload.

What we scope

Build a plan your team can execute.

Assess applications and data

Identify workloads, dependencies, database sizes, traffic patterns and constraints. Compare the current environment with estimated AWS running costs and define success criteria.

Design the AWS foundation

Agree accounts, networking, identity and security controls. Define the target architecture for resilience, scaling, observability and cost visibility, with infrastructure as code where appropriate.

Prepare and rehearse the move

Define migration waves, data transfer and validation. Agree change windows, rollback conditions and responsibilities with the application owners. Rehearse the steps that carry operational risk.

Migrate, validate and hand over

Execute the approved plan and check application behavior, data integrity, performance and monitoring. Document the environment and agree who owns operations, incidents and further improvements.

Funding and commercial planning

Understand the costs of moving and running.

Review migration funding early

Eligible projects may qualify for AWS Migration Acceleration Program support. We assess the workload and expected AWS usage, scope the work and coordinate the applicable review. Your proposal separates approved support, any pending application and your contribution.

Plan beyond the migration

Include ongoing AWS usage, support, licensing and operations in the business case. Through AWS Resell, CloudHero offers flexible payment terms, a monthly invoice discount and access to AWS expertise under the agreed commercial terms.

After the move

Keep the operating model clear.

Your team can take over the documented environment, or we can scope ongoing managed DevOps and AWS operations. For wider infrastructure design and improvement, explore our DevOps consultancy. For container-specific migration, see our Amazon EKS migration offer.

Questions

Before your AWS migration.

How long does an AWS migration take?

The schedule depends on workload size, dependencies, data transfer, change windows and how much modernization is included. We agree a phased plan after assessment; individual customer outcomes are not a standard delivery-time promise.

Can you migrate from another cloud or on-premises infrastructure?

Yes. We assess the existing architecture, application dependencies, data and constraints to define the AWS migration scope.

Can applications stay online during the move?

Availability requirements shape the migration design. We agree replication, cutover, testing and rollback approaches for each workload. Any expected interruption is documented before execution.

Do we need to adopt Kubernetes?

No. We compare virtual machines, containers and managed services against the requirements. Amazon EKS is appropriate for some workloads; the architecture decision comes first.

Can AWS funding cover the migration?

Funding depends on the program, project eligibility and AWS approval. We review options during planning and confirm approved support in writing.

Who operates the environment afterwards?

We agree the handover and operational responsibilities during scoping. CloudHero managed services are available as a separately defined engagement.
